Plog Magazine was recently featured on art site BOOOOOOOM.

My feature on Plog focuses on my animal photography.

Earlier this week I met with SF local Jason Yim to pick up a copy of his recently released photo zine titled Salam Sejahtera from his bike trip to Malaysia last November.

I posted the interview and photos from the zine on a project blog I’m working on called Half Ladder. On Half Ladder I will be writing on photography related news, issues, and current events I find interesting and want to share.

An outtake from the shoot with Joanna, earlier in January. I had never met or worked with Joanna before. We definitely made it a great first time intro and experience. Chill vibes. We went to two different dog parks, forgetting that they were dog parks…

I plan to update the site with new photos from several shoots I had over winter break, hopefully soon.

Not that going to Chinatown in the city is exactly amazingly special for any kid my age who has lived in SF their whole life so far, I’ve been there plenty of times but this weekend was the second time I’ve been to Chinatown without a friend or anything. I went to actually check out something specific, but also get out of the house and do a little bit of browsing in an area I’m not normally around.

The painted American Flag definitely caught my eye. (More photos soon..)

Tristan & I went over to Brown Owl on taraval for a bit. It was their first day back for the new year and we both haven’t been there in a while. I let him borrow two of the twenty or so early/mid ’90s issues of Photo Metro Mags that I’ve recently come across so we were just leafing through them. I’m not sure, but I don’t think they’re still publishing…. so I’m just way stoked to have them. Photo Metro published 10 times yearly works by photographers and sometimes had mixed media, quite distinct from anything I’ve ever seen, along with long interviews on themselves, their work, ideas and so on.

Tristan and I also swapped notebooks for sec, I wrote in his and he did a funny comic in mine about a friend of ours who already left for school.

Anyway, most of the homies are leaving back for school these days so it’s just been great to hangout, catch up and share our ideas and thoughts. I’ve been shooting with some models again and have a lot of material to get out, as well as shoot with a few people who still live in the city in the following weeks, and will update the whole site before I go back to school.

First off, it’s been awesome meeting up with friends that are back in the city and now that we have free time during the break to get together.

Also glad to have been getting in some shooting time with a few friends and models.

Wendy and I met early on in high school and became good friends around the time we both started to develop our passions and get involved with our interests, and ever since we’ve always been down to shoot together. Last week we hung out downtown, grabbed coffee at Sight Glass and shot around at a few different locations. Earlier this week we grabbed coffee at Greenhouse at West Portal and then went to a park in St. Francis Woods to shoot.

We’ve been talking about a few different future projects we’ll be working on together with some other friends, and totally looking forward to that.
